As a learner shearer you may be entitled to Shearing tools to the Value of $800.00. There are certain requirements to be met and further information can be found by checking the web page at the bottom.

Any learner purchasing from Top Gun under this initiative will receive some bonus gear.

This initiative is also applicable to learner Woolhandlers, Woolclassers and Crutchers.

The Australian Government realises that it is not always easy to make ends meet when starting out in an Australian Apprenticeship. There are the expenses of moving out of home, purchasing your tools of trade and saving to buy a car, all on a training wage.

To further address the issue of skills needs in the trades, the Australian Government has introduced a range of new measures.

From 1 July 2005, Australian Apprentices working in skill needs trades may be eligible to receive a tool kit to the value of $800 and a scholarship worth $1,000.

You may be entitled to a tool kit worth up to $800 for undertaking an Australian Apprenticeship in an area of particular skills need.

A Tools For Your Trade (TFYT) Eligibility Verification Form will be provided to your employer when you’ve completed your first three months. This form will determine whether you are eligible to receive a Tools For Your Trade tool Kit.  You will be asked to sign this form which will then be returned to TFYT.

Your employer will then be provided with a voucher that can be used to purchase the tool kit.  You will also be asked to sign the back of this voucher.

Your employer will purchase the tool kit using the voucher and make it available for you to use. When you have completed a further six months of your Australian Apprenticeship, you will be entitled to keep the tool kit.
